‘Esgyn’ is the name of the Baptist Union of Wales’ new youth initiative, designed for young people in our churches and communities.
‘Esgyn’ is all about creating an opportunity for young people to come together and build relationships with one another, whilst also discovering more about the adventure of knowing God…

Youth Weekend
We started the ‘Esgyn’ adventure with a Youth Weekend on the 9th – 11th February 2024, at an amazing venue: the Rock UK Summit Centre, Treharris in South Wales.
We are so excited to be returning this Autumn for a second weekend: running from the 22nd – 24th of November.
The weekend will kick off on Friday evening and run through ‘till Sunday afternoon, with a chance for young people to:
Enjoy the amazing activities available at the Rock UK Summit Centre e.g archery, caving,
high ropes and climbing…
Enjoy times of rest, community, and good food!
Team building activities and games…
Times of worship, music, teaching, and more…
Cost of the weekend: TBC
The weekend will be subsidized considerably by the BUW, and further help can be offered, so we do not want finance to be a barrier for anyone who wants to come to the Esgyn weekend.

There will also be Welsh-language provision, and the weekend will run bilingually where possible.
Booking
Booking for November weekend will open in July / August 2024 – keep your eyes open for announcements from BUW and a booking form to be released on this page soon.
A vision for a new generation…
The theme of ‘Esgyn’ (English: ‘ascend’) speaks of embarking on an adventure together in community, looking to the exciting heights of following Jesus surrounded by fellow travelers, while also being aware of the need to navigate life’s ‘everyday’ valleys with Him, in our 21st century Welsh context…
The hope is that ‘Esgyn’ will:
- Help build connections between young people in Wales
- Encourage each young person in their own discipleship and walk with Jesus
- Build lasting community for years to come.
