Each year, a different regional ‘Association’ of the Baptist Union of Wales elects one President to represent the Welsh-language wing and one to represent the English-language wing. Occasionally a President is elected to represent both wings of the Union. After being inducted at the annual conference, the new Presidents serve together with Past-Presidents and the Vice-Presidents on the ‘Presidential Team’. One of the main tasks of this experienced group of women and men is to ensure healthy relationships within the Union. Our current presidential team is made up of:
Rev. Paul Smethurst
President (English-language wing)
Paul lives in Talgarth with his wife Robyn and serves as the Missional Minister for Breconshire and as Pioneer Lead for the BUW.
Rev. Phil Vickery
Vice President (English-language wing)
Phil is a Minister at y Groesfan Baptist Church in St David's, and has a heart for pioneering local expressions of mission.
Rev. Dr Rosa Hunt
President (Welsh-language wing)
Rosa is minister of Tabernacl in the city centre of Cardiff, and was previously Co-Principal at Cardiff Baptist College.
Rev. Casi Jones
Vice President (Welsh-language wing)
Casi is minister of Eglwys Gydenwadol Emaus in Bangor, North Wales. She will also be a trustee of the new North Wales Missional CIO. which will support churches and associations in their mission.
Rev. Robert Nicholls
Past President (Welsh-language wing)
Rob is minister of the Welsh Church of Central London in Oxford Circus, which is a hub of London's Welsh language Christian life.
