As Baptists we love to celebrate the public commitment of faith in the Lord Jesus that people make when they get baptized! A host of Baptisms took place across Wales over the Easter weekend. Here’s a snapshot of just a handful of those stories:
“We held a baptismal service for a young woman who grew up in the church but is now in university but continues to be a part of the church family here. Her Grandad, Rev Arfon Thomas (previous pastor of the church here in Bethlehem), baptised her along with her dad too who is one of Bethlehem’s worship leaders. It was a joy for me to preside over the service and bring God’s word and see Him move in powerful ways during the whole service. Two more people came forward at the end of the service wanting to be baptised, so we’ll be refilling the pool again soon! Praise the Lord!”

“We, at Bethesda Baptist Church, Neyland were delighted to not only celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ but witnessed for first baptism in our Church for about 20 years! This gentleman has been searching all his life for answers.
“Seek the Lord, and He WILL be found”
He walked into our church two years ago when the Spirit led him to want bible study and to be with others who knew the Lord. Hallelujah, praise the Lord indeed that he has been changed, transformed, and made anew. Peace, understanding and calmness now permeates through his body and mind! Since the devastation of our pool in the sanctuary, the pool in the picture was used as an excellent substitute!”

“It was a beautiful day at The Village Chapel (Johnston Baptist Church)! On Mother’s Day a man brought his girlfriend to church and she received Christ as her Saviour. The next week, she told us that she was constantly reading the Bible we’d given her and as we talked with her about baptism she could hardly wait. Her boyfriend was a believer, but not walking with the Lord and he wanted to be baptised along with her. So, on Easter Sunday we had the baptism. They are facing challenges, but learning to lean into Jesus and the church fellowship for strength and wisdom and growth. Praise the Lord!”

These individuals’ stories and their churches are all different – in age, stage, background and walk of life. But they are all united in their baptism as believers in the name of Jesus Christ!
Why not take a moment to pray for these newly baptized believers and their churches?
