A Christian Voice in Wales: Past and Present

We look forward to the Ilston Service, when we will note the 200th Anniversary of the life and work of Joseph Harries Gomer, and take a look at the historical and contemporary role of the public Christian voice in Wales...

You are welcome to join us for our annual Ilston Service (online) which will be held on Tuesday, the 20th of January at 7pm.

This year, we will hear about the important contribution of Gomer, aka Joseph Harries Gomer (1773-1825). Gomer was an Editor, Printer and Minister who was responsible for establishing the first Welsh-language weekly newspaper, Seren Gomer. Marking the 200th Anniversary of the life and work of Gomer, Professor Densil Morgan looks back at his significant contribution using the media of the day to help shape a nation. We also look forward with Jonathan Thomas, a religious broadcaster in Wales, who uses modern media to reflect on the issues around faith in Wales today.
